Help MHL Adapter

So I bought this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005NG71K8 says its compatible with the Evo3D and Sensation so the V 4G should be no difference. Now its not showing up on my tv that theres an HDMI connection available. It could possible be the HDMI cable itself since its kinda messed up a bit, have to wiggle it to work. So if its not the cable could it be the adapter?

With HDMI issues...have you tried a different device with the same HDMI cable?

It could be anything, at this piont, and we would need to troubleshoot it a little more.

Well I could try on my sisters Galaxy S3, but I'm going to try it again on my dads tv with a different HDMI cable.

Sometimes it's finicky, make sure that you plug the power into the mhl adapter before connecting it to the phone.

Wait, you HAVE to plug in the power aswell? Maybe that's why it didn't work lol.

Yeah, it's required dude. I'd start there with your troubleshooting.

Yea I thought it was just optional to charge your phone. xD

Well this is solved, just tried it with the power cable plugged in and it worked great!
