I'm after a mhl to hdmi cable for my S2, but I can't afford a genuine Samsung one. There are a myriad of third party cables online, but I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a store/seller/cable that they have used which works perfectly? I don't wanna end up with a crappy chinese copy that doesn't work.
I'm in the uk.

Ant tips greatly appreciated.

is mhl the attachment for the phone?

ie would the cable allow a link up to an hd tv with hdmi adaptors?

i got one off amazon for $15, the ikross brand, white color. works as expected.
i would think the guts are the same on most of these. also has an input on the ikross unit to be able to power the phone while watching the tv.

yep, this device allows video to be piped from the phone through the mhl adapter, to an hdmi, no adapters needed, just this micro usb to hdmi mhl adapter and an hdmi cable.

ikross. Check √

Thanks. Just didn't wanna go spending money blind, as it were. (⁀‿⁀)♬

I bought a generic one off ebay - works fine. It's the adapter plus the cable integrated into one piece not the adaptor that then needs a separate hdmi cable. Cost about $10-15. Running the display through the HDMI still sucks the battery down though even with the power plugged in - as is required. The power adapter I use puts out 1000mA (for the Tab 10.1 actually) but the battery still drops. So Using HDMI uses about 1200-1300mA out of you battery.

Cables are pretty generic as it's a digital signal running through it it's should matter too much. I suggest you try a cheap one and if you don't like it go for a higher priced one?
