Root Mi Explorer in CTMod3.68

Hi,

for a few days I have a weird issue. I am running FE16 / CTMod3.68 / Koumakernel on My Prevail and all seemed to be fine. Now, for a few days, I get an update notification for the Mi Explorer ( which I really like ). So I click on the update, go to the website and download the update. Then I click on the downloaded .apk file and it starts the install, telling me it's a system app, will replace, etc.... and I do all that and it installs without any error message.

However, Mi Explorer does NOT get updated to the new version, I still have the old version when I look at the "About" !

Since Mi Explorer is included in the CTMod3.68, I was wondering if there is a certain procedure to install the new version, without messing up anything ?

Anyone knows ? Would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having this issue as well. I'm going to try to use the ApkInstaller.zip to update it and see if that works. Also was wondering how to update Chrome\Maxthor as it does the same thing. I go the market and try to update and gives a signature error because it's been modfied of course, but that has to be a way to update it?

I am a new member to the forum but have been flashing my phone and using tweaks and such for a while. CTMod 3.68 is amazing!

If ya think it's nice on the Prevail.... ya should see CTMod on the Marquee>>:D
 
Oh yeah CT Mod 3.68 is the best I feel! I've only tried a few others but Blood definitely is a genius! I never knew what this phone could do! But I do now!!!
 
Indeed. Gave new life to this phone - everything is so much more responsive - untill I can get a new one in a year or so. The community around this phone is amazing and thanks to all who have made this phone more enjoyable.

In regards to Chrome (Maxthor) update I believe we have to wait untill Blood releases the update under his modified version. If you go to /devs/Blooddawn/Chrome in the GooManager, there are some versions there but not the newest one yet so I think he will hopefully release the new version sometime in the future. Not really a big deal anyway as it runs a lot faster than stock anyways. :thumbup::driver:

I did use the ApkInstaller-Prevail.zip that Blood provided to install apps he took out to install the new version of Mi File explorer sucessfully. It's updated and everything seems to work fine.
There is a new Icon with the update.

There are some great DEVs in here 4sure. The Marquee section is lucky because we have gotten several of the guys that started here, over there now. I'm here to tell ya that CTMod is a BEAST on the Marquee! I turn mine up and run it at 1.4GHz sometimes and it's blazing fast. Most of the time I just run it at 1.3GHz and it's more than enough to do what I what it to do.

CTMod is one of the main reasons that I decided to buy a Marquee.:D
 
Hi animania,

could you please tell me in a few quick steps how the ApkInstaller-Prevail.zip works ? I certainly think it will run the "install from zip" option in CWM, but where do you have to put the new ( updatet ) Mi Explorer apk file and do you have to rename the downloaded update from Mi Explorer ?

No worries, found the instructions. However, if I download the APKInstaller.zip from the CTMod thread, it downloads a file called APKInstaller-Marquee.zip, not the Prevail one !! Does anyone has a link to the Prevail APKInstaller or is it the same ? Thanks.
