Help Mic only works in speaker phone?

Can't get the Mic to work in a regular call. Works in speaker phone. I have tried every setting I could find. Any good ideas?

in a regular phone call do you hear the person talking when not on speaker phone mode?

Yes, I can hear everything. If I don't put it on speaker phone I can not be heard. I've tried rebooting it, removed the battery. Does the speaker phone use a separate/different mic?

it uses the same Mic for speakerphone ad earpiece. This is quite interesting. My guess is software. Are you rooted?

I washed the phone with soap and water and all works fine now.
