Help mic problems / no one can hear me

Ok so this seems to be happening sporadically. Sometimes when I reboot my phone it fixes this but it isn't helping anymore. Basically, Whenever someone calls me or I call then, they can only hear what I am trying to say when I put my phone on speak phone, otherwise, they say that they cane hear anything I am saying. I can hear them regardless. So it seems to be a software problem. The phone is rooted with the stock ROM with a Slayher kernel. If there is a fix that does not involve a factory reset, obviously I will try that first, only resorting to the factory reset if all else fails. Thanks.

downclock the DROID back to stock values and see if that helps.

I cant find a link to the stock kernel. the slayher kernel is standard voltage with stock frequencies. I did a factory reset and that didn't change anything really. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, acting like it has a mind of its own.
