Mic Volume on camcorder

Does anyone know if there is a way of turning down camcorder mic volume or a app that can adjust this?

turning down?! the volume is far too low as is, why would you want to turn it down?

Anyway in the camera's settings there's a setting to switch off recording sound.

Hi all i've had my dhd for two days now and am impressed with it ( previous phone i8910 ) Hd recording is ok ish but heard there is a update coming but must say the mic recording volume is VERY poor how can you turn it up? as its way to low and tinny. Is this normal or should i ask for a replacement?

Actually its normal for this phone unfortunately.

One observation i have made and i made this comment in the xda forums too. When you hold the phone in landscape to record a video the natural position where your right hand holds the phone covers the microphone (well at least for me). So just be careful your hand isnt covering the mic. I have some videos where i was covering the mic and compared to others where wasnt and the difference in audio volume is quite huge.

Cheers i was beginning to think i had a duff HTC. Just 1 more thing i find the HD recording not smooth compared to my i8910, is this normal too as the main reason i got the dhd was for better HD recording, if so am right thinking that the next update will sort it out?? my software is 1.32 & android vers 2.2 btw according to tmobile my dhd is upto date.

yeah the next update, which is 1.72, totally removes the jitter you get with your firmware version.

The reason why yours tell you you are on the latest is because apparently HTC have pulled the update (or at least its believed) because of other problems its brings like an sms bug. Another possible reason is because T-Mobile havent made the update available yet for your phone. Either way you should get it soon so i wouldn't worry about it mate.

thanks mate you have put my mind at ease....it was really doing my head in. Just dont understand why they dont sort out these issues before releasing these flagship phones  (had same prob with i8910 had to flash) well guess me and many others will just have to sit and wait for this update :(

no problem mate. HTC tend to always have software bugs early on with most of their phones.. but luckily for us they get them sorted out eventually! If we were with Moto or Samsung we're stuck with these kind of problems!

Just a thought.. im not sure if you're into rooting and such, but currently there's plenty of 1.72 based custom roms out there. Right now im using leedroid and my phone runs like a dream. No camcorder stutter at all, plus all other benefits that custom roms bring with them. But that's another thread's discussion.. i'll leave it at that :)

well dont know too much about rooting but i do want to get the most out of the dhd...mean like shall i wait for the update 1st or can i start rooting now? will it void my warranty? and if i do root can i still update via my network? sorry but android is new to me :)

I had a i890 before the desire hd and there was a secret menu where I could turn the mic volume down when recording loud music so that the sound didn't get all distorted, just now when you rercord bands and stuff it is just a noise, and whats the point off turning the volume off when recording a video.

You can start now dude.. I'm not too sure but I think if you update to the new version it will block you from rooting. Htc blocked it I think. Yeah it will void your warranty but there are tutorials out there which can bring your phone back to stock. You won't be able to update if you use a custom rom, but if you root only and leave the same HTC Rom then you'll be able to get updates. Android was new to all of us at some point :) just take things slow and you'll reap the rewards. Head over to xda and you'll be on your way :)
