micro-cv app

mortias

Newbie
i had this other idea, apparently the chinese are crazy about the micro-cv system, howcome there is no android app for micro-cv's on the market yet in europe ? (weibo.com)

Well, it'd be a good idea to explain what a 'micro-CV' is, especially since the url you give is in Chinese ......

Dave

sure :) indeed

Sina Weibo implements many features from Twitter. However a lot of chinese use it to post a micro-cv

"MicroResume.net portal provides an effective, efficient platform for a candidate and a potential employer. It is typically used to screen applicants, often followed by an interview, when seeking employment.

Micro Resume means brevity, hitting the target with minimum words, contain precise keywords, giving enormous value to a potential employers."

Ah, I see. Gives employers and recruitment consultants even more reasons NOT to find your CV for a given role because their 'keyword searching' hasn't progressed past a primary school level ..... :(

Sorry, just that I'm job hunting at the moment and consultants, especially, are about as much use as a chocolate teapot ........

Dave

PS: for those not from the UK, 'primary school' is from ages of 4 or 5 to 11 years old .... my 8-year old son can use google for searching better than most consultants!

interesting, so what would be THE requirement or which stuff do you miss right now on cv sites? because i'm not sure the current sites like "monster" are sufficient.

maybe this could work for interim recruitement or service related jobs like (cleaning the house etc.)

It's not that things are missing from any sites, though I'm sure that's the case with some, it's that the consultants themselves are missing that quality that comes from having brain cells .... They seem to think that they can a) search their CV database with some ill-chosen key words then b) just blast out an email to everyone found that way without actually checking that CV manually. Doesn't work like that ......

Oh, and I get one site that emails me because 'I haven't logged into it for 30 days' (shouldn't need to if their consultants are searching their database!). I log in and it says 'your CV hasn't shown up in any searches'. I check their 'vacancy database' and several have roles which have titles that match exactly to at least one on my CV.

As I said, clueless ...

But, sorry, I've taken the thread off topic by miles with my cynical attitude. On the subject of CVs, one fact that's stayed with me is that 80% of jobs aren't advertised, they get filled via networking. Just that I'm cr*p at that .....

Dave

it's totaly not off topic because an app is a solution to a need and if the need isn't analysed or isn't there then the app is not needed.. so thank you for your input, i see a lot of frustration in this sector

i'm just searching for the golden egg i guess but the key is to get insight in the context, wich is the difference between developers and sectors..
