Help MICRO SD PROBLEM SINCE LOLLIPOP UPGRADE

I've recently been having a problem with my SD card,
I think its related to the upgrade as its only been happening since then but I cant be sure,

I get the problem when transferring files to my 64GB SD card on the PC if the file is anything over about 1GB and the transfer takes more than a couple of minutes,
The transfer will get part way through and then the time remaining suddenly increases and the transfer gets stuck,
It keeps trying to transfer and the time remaining just gets longer and longer,
If I try navigating the phone in file explorer at this point the SD card has dissappeared from the M8.

I end up having to disconnect it and delete the file as it hasnt fully transferred.

I'm thinking that i'm either going to try a factory reset as I haven't done that since the update or format the SD card to see if that fixes it,

Which should I try first though?
 
Any advice from anyone as to which is more likely to be the cause/solve the problem?

P.s I have tried multiple computers and cables to and have the same issue regardless.
 
Could be a bad portion on the sd card.

Back up everything on it to your pc (that's likely to take a long time but worth it) reformat the card using the phone's option, try copying that file over again. If successful, restore your backup. If not you may have an SD card that's degrading.

Limit files to 2 GB.
