Accessories Micro USB cable - opposite problem

Sorry hit the button before I was done.

There have been many threads about micro USB cables that did not charge or did not charge fast.

I have a different problem.
Because of all the complaints about the battery, I bought a ProPorta 3600 as battery backup.
The charging cable that comes with it (retractable) does not seem to also work as a sync cable. Thought I would try it and there was no obvious connection between the Desire and the PC.

Any thoughts??

As for battery, with my normal use I never yet have drained the battery in one day. Charge it every night.
 
The USB cable is designed for charging only, so it could be that the pins used for data connectivity simply are not there / functional.
