micro usb to micro hub

I have an Android tablet and often use it with a TV 'dongle' which plugs into the tablet's micro usb socket. But whilst watching TV, I would also like to be able to charge the tablet. So what I'd like to know is if there is such a cable that splits from one male to two female micro USBs (suitable to take charging). I can't seem to find one anywhere. Thanks in advance for any help.

When you're using the dongle the device is in USB host mode.

It's theoretically possible (see http://rootzwiki.com/topic/30615-can-you-charge-usb-host-mode-simultaneously/) but not practically possible.

While in host mode, your device expects that it may have to provide power, rather than accept it.

If someone has gotten this to actually work, I'll be as interested as you - but - not going to hold my breath.

Sorry but there it is.

I'm not sure that what you want is possible, I've certainly never seen one. The problem is that when the tablet is acting as a host - "OTG" mode - it normally would be providing power to the USB port rather than accepting charge from it, much like a PC does.

Hopefully I'm wrong and someone can point you to something that does what you need :)

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I'll just have to make sure my tablet is fully charged before a full evening's TV!

Seems a pity that a) tablets don't have built-in TV 'dongles' and b) that there isn't a separate charging socket.

My first tablet, a Sony, did have separate socket, but inconveniently came with a small computer-like brick for power. The Sony died a death - it won't even boot up so I can't wipe it clean before binning. But that's another story/question!
