Microbes Livewallpaper

Just found the Microbes Live Wallpaper taken from the Nexus S over at XDA. It's in the nexus forum but I think it works with most phones. I was having problems at first with it being laggy but a reboot seems to have fixed that (I installed the apk don't think it really makes a difference though).

You can feed the microbes by tapping the screen (they run away from any contact you have with the screen) as they eat the get larger and eventually split into two more microbes which start eating and growing. Food appears regularly but not enough to sustain them so they slowely die out. why they die they turn grey and sink to the bottom.

I've attached a screen shot (had to rotate it to meet the attachment requirements) and you can view the original thread and download it here:
[LIVEWALLPAPER] Microbes Nexus S (update.zip NOW signed + APK Installable) - xda-developers

Edit: I think the apk in post 110 at xda works while the one in the original post might still be corrupt.
Edit 2: I'm not sure I put this in the right place perhaps, if it would be more appropriate, one of the mods could move it to Android Themes.

I love the microbes. Today though, no red ones. Anyone know what the different colors may mean?

As far as I'm aware the colours don't mean anything at all. I got the impression the microbes were just random. The colours are google's colours. Unless your using a more up to date version than the one that I posted above?

its been driving me nuts. For half the day, I only had blue and green microbes. Yellow and red were on a break or something, lol. Im wanting to replicate it :D

My microbes just came with the serendipity7 rom im using.

Survival of the fittest; the green and yellow ones required more food to survive, and the stock rate of food drops along with competition killed them. :D

I do believe you're right! I didnt really pay much attention, but they microbes only split into the same color. I started to feed around the blue ones today and after a while, started to have more floating around. I also deal with a few more blue deaths then other colors, but I think thats just because I make more of them.

Microbes are a lot of fun knowing you can manipulate their lives :D

I've been playing around with it and it turns out that either:
1) Microbes can replicate in different colors (although they almost always produce two of the same color), or
2) the LWP randomly creates new microbes when a certain amount die

I killed off every green microbe and new ones started appearing. It would have been funny to have nothing but one color because I killed the other 3 off. :(

yay, i have nothing but yellow. Its been about 8 hours now, and no new colors appeared. The yellow microbes won the game of life! It took me about 3 days to get it here. Do i dare reboot the phone and start again? :D

i Love my microbes... ^^, swimming around, minding their own business (getting food). I Have yet to se a microbe split into two different colors. And food randomly pops onto the screen, so if you only have, say blue, microbes, and leave them alone, they cannot die and there will not be any other colors. But that's racist!! lol

Welp, I killed them all by poking the same spot on the screen for a good 5 minutes (to keep them away from the food) until the very last one died (that last one lived a LONG life)....and now it's just a bunch of food floating around...doing nothing...

It only took a month. :D
