Help Microphone going out?

I work at a phone store, and for the past month we have had at least 6 or 7 customers coming in saying that their microphone has stopped working.

We do a test call in the store and you can't hear a thing, not even static. We've done all the updates, reset the phone, and it still does not work. Anyone know of solutions?

We can't give the customers money back. At this point, all we can do is send it in to ZTE...but ZTE customer service is beyond terrible. It takes a 45 minute phone call just to get the information needed to send the phone in.

When you say reset the phone.. are you talking a factory reset? If that doesn't fix it you are pretty much against a hardware problem. I don't know of any other tricks... sorry. I hope another has something positive to lend.

Mine just did this to. i tested it with talking tom cat. and it could only here me if put the bottom side of the phone directly on my moth our if i used speaker phone during a call.

I got to thinking that a week before my daughter had buried my phone in sand. I took a knife to the small mic hole scraped it a little and after that it was fine. also sometimes my speaker gets very buzzy so i smack it and it starts working better

N clean the contact leads to the speaker as for the speaker n microphones are no longer soldered to wires the have contact leads just like u see on ur battery connectors that connect to ur battery well same thing take a piece of 1000 grit sand paper to the leads both phone n speaker n mic use light pressure swipe them till shiny again n use q-tip rubbing alcohol not alot n lightly rub clean back together should work fine hit thanks if it worked out for u thank u my friend good luck
