Help microphone problems

I got a new Samsung galaxy s3 a few weeks ago and have had problems with the microphone, it happens for a few days then starts working normal again people can hardly hear me I need to shout and it's still very faint but the voice picks me up no bother, I have done a factory reset and it's still not working any other ideas?

the microphone while taking a call is locaterd on the bottom by the usb plug are you covering it with a finger while holding the phone?
