microsd card problem won't write

Alldaymall 7 inch tablet android 4.2.2 , sandisk 16gb microsd card. After installing and mounting the card my tablet shows the storage space of the card in settings but when I try to install an app it won't recognize and write to the added storage..It will still recognize the 2.1gb of external storage that it has without the card and only write to that instead.How do I get the tablet to write to the 16 GB card I've inserted?

You don't say what app, or whether you want the app to save data to the card or whether you want to install the app itself on the card.

Some apps will let you specify where they save their data (if they save data to SD at all). Some do not, but have the address they save to hard-coded. In the latter case there's nothing you can do.

If you want to install the app itself to sd, Android 4.2.2 does not support that. Android really intends SD cards to be for storing media, and stores apps on the device.
