Help MicroSD card problems

Hi all, I have a 32 GB class 10 Sandisk micro sd card that I am running in the Sprint Galaxy S3 . It was bought brand new with the phone in January. I know a lot of people have problems with their SD cards in this phone, like continually mounting and un-mounting itself or it not being recognized, but I do not have that. I just keep having my music deleted or corrupted. Not all of it, just certain albums, but that is still no good.

Does anyone know what causes the problems with SD cards in this phone? Is it Sandisk? I've also read that class 10 speed could be a problem. Or is it the phone itself?

I am wanting to buy a 32 gb class 6 Samsung card as a replacement but if it's just the Galaxy S3 itself causing problems I don't see that doing me much good.

Thanks for any help.

Sandisk seem to be taking the blame publicly (theyre probably the biggest manufacturer though) and theyve said they will/have implimented a fix so id prob' go with them if i knew it was gona be a card with the "fix". Ive read folk talkin about the s3 frying all brands of SD though so im not convinced that it isnt Samsungs fault. Theres no way id wana possibly encourage/reward that kinda crap by buying a Samsung SD :)

Are they disappearing or getting corrupted *after* you've listened to them on your phone, or are they not copying over to your phone? I noticed that when I first trying to copy music to my phone using the USB cable and MTP that a lot didn't copy for some reason. I found that I had to either pull the microSD card out of the phone and plug it into it's adapter so I could copy directly on my computer. The other option I use now is to use an USB-OTG connector and copy them from a USB stick onto the phone.

Thanks for the replies guys.

funkylogic: That's why I thought it may have been Sandisk's fault because I did read their response but you bring up good points... I don't know... There are also a lot of other people having problems with this card on Amazon having nothing to do with the Galaxy. I think I will just try the Samsung card because although admittedly the sample size of reviews is far smaller they are all positive. It's a good price on Amazon if this doesn't work either I will just return the Samsung card.

Ramer: All the music will initially copy over. And then I will try to play an album later on and curiously it will not be in my music list at all on either Google Music or another music player. If I look for it in file manager the folder will be there, but it's empty and the name is all corrupted. For instance, 'Absolution' by Muse is listed as BSOLU~1 (and there is a weird 'u' character in front but I don't know how to type it).

I first noticed this a month ago or 2, deleted everything off the card, formatted it, and copied my music over again and it still corrupts/deletes things.

One clue is that if I look at the properties of all the corrupted folders, they were all last updated at almost exactly the same time. April 6th, 1:18 pm. The last time I had this problem I don't remember the dates the folders got corrupted but it was like 10:45 am. So whatever is happening it is happening at one specific moment in time.

I have just upgraded from a s11 to a s111,on the s11 i could move my aps from my phone to ext memory card as this option was given in applications,i am using my 32 sd card in the s111 but when i go to applications i do not get the option of moving the app, does the phone do this auto or is there something wrong,,the sd card is shown as mounted,i apologise if i have jumped into somebodies thread but trying to start a thread on here is not shown how to do so

If you need a lot of space, i believe that you could format a 64gb sd card, for the SGSIII.:)

The option to move Apps to the SD card was removed by Google with the ICS OS. The only way to do this is to Root the phone and with certain Roms.

Yeah, moving to the s3, you kinda have to think about the memory different.. SDcard is the memory chip inside the phone, Ext (external) SD is like an SD card that youve used to expand the media storage. By default, the s3 just wont recognise apps stored on the external sd, android wont.
Unless youre a big gamer, 16Gb of internal SD is more than enough to have apps on but if you need more space than that, you can kid the phone into thinkin the ExtSd is its internal SD.
Thats one for the All Things Root subforum tho :)

I had several SD cards trashed by my S3s (now on my third!), but that said, once I switched from SanDisk to Samsung, I've not had an SD card problem since. So, there may be something better about the Samsung memory.
