microSD question

What is the best 64 gig microSD card on the market for the SG3 at a reasonable price and do you have a link?

Thanks,

$50-$60 maybe?

I heard a guy at my work talk about a 32 gig class 10 for $30 so I figure my price range might be reasonable.

What should be expecting to pay? I have no clue.

Just be aware you can't move apps to the sdcard. Only used for pics, videos and maybe some other things. Just the way ICS is set up now. Bummer I know. You may not need such a large card knowing this. ; )

Is it ICS? I'd have thought it was just samsung with /sdcard already technically being where apps are?

Can't say I used ICS enough on other devices to confirm.

If you're rooted, you can use directory bind to move all that game data that defaults to /sdcard/android/data to /extSdcard. Ive saved 6GB by doing this.

That's a good point. I might go 32gb.

It's just that I have three or four 2 - 8 gb SD cards with different music, photos, etc. that I would love to consolidate into one and have room for some movies for traveling and such where I don't have any data connections etc.

FWIW, you can store photos from the camera to the ext. SD, but not from burst or best shot modes. It seems that the fast photo storage forces writing to the internal memory. Dunno if you can override that other camera apps and if you can, perhaps a faster ext. SD card, but for the native camera app, my 32 GB, class 4 card seems to be plenty. Similar for storing & playing other mass media--books, music & movies, including HD video.

I keep allot of music on mine plus nandroids and Titanium Backup files, but even so I still have 10 GB left empty on my 32 GD card. Unless you do need the space for sure, it can be allot of money for not much value.

Now, if I ever break down and get a tablet I'd probably spring for a 64 GB card for movies!

I keep 7 days of titanium and 1 nandroid.

I use folder sync to sync my internal and external sd to my NAS. The good thing is I still keep stuff I need, but not on my card. Its all just an FTP away too.

Setting up FTP at home is one of the best things I did

I used up a 32gb pretty easily with my gs2 so went for a 64 this time. You've also got to take into account that the sd can be formatted to exfat so you won't be limited with the size of files. So if you record a lot of full hd videos or save some full hd movies to your phone the 64gb could be eaten up quite quickly.
