Microsoft Launcher?

edit: Never mind. Backed up a little and realized that though Microsoft Launcher had taken over my phone, it also had a sales pitchy kind of invitation to make it the default "and experience even better" whatever. So went into apps to make sure original launcher was still there (updated just a few days ago, too). Did a little basic research to make sure- yep. All I needed to do was uninstall Microsoft Launcher and the phone would default to my carefully curated Android. I went to the Play Store and looked up Microsoft Launcher, using the uninstall function there. Nice and clean, and now my phone is back the way I like it.

Only the mystery of how it got installed in the first place remains. Interestingly, MS website says that support for it ends Dec 2019. Hundreds of people begging to know how to get rid of it.

original query: I got up this morning and found Microsoft Launcher on my Samsung 7. No notice. I hate it. The Android system worked fine for me, and I had it set up the way I wanted. I have been trying to figure out how to get rid of the damn thing ever since and am baffled. I think I got the process figured out, but am not sure what to look for. First need to reset to previous launcher. I am assuming that in my app list that Google is the previous launcher. Can anyone confirm?

It could be that the launcher was always on your phone and you inadvertently set it to default. To fix that, go to apps>menu>clear defaults or reset app preferences, depending on which version of Android you're running. Then press the home button and you should be prompted which launcher to use. The default Samsung launcher is TouchWiz. select that and then tap on "always" and you've set it to be the default.

Thanks. But first place, Microsoft Launcher was not on my phone. I am nosy about innards of new things and would have looked it up if I'd seen it. Second, setting to default is approximately instant. I always double check for messages before I crash for the night, and it was the way it was supposed to be at that time. Plus, I had not poked around anything on the phone, since I was working on my laptop on a project that is not in my time zone (life is weird sometimes. Also, verified that I am far from being the only person this has happened to. I am just happy that the fix turned out to be simple (see my edit above).

Nice to know there is a place like this I can come to if I need help to figure thing out though. It was the instructions above that tipped me that my original launcher was probably still there intact, and that the phone would revert once I got rid of Microsoft Launcher. I decided to check status on Play Store, and since it gave me the option of uninstalling from there, I gave it a try and it worked perfectly. Now I am going to quit wondering and go treat myself to chocolate cake.
