Is there an app on the market that is similar to microsoft word? Particularly a cheap/free app?

The one I use is DocumentsToGo. It's not cheap/free but it generally does the job. There are others; search the market for "word processor" and you should find them.

Documents To Go or Quick Office.

I use Documents To Go, no problems yet so I recommend it but it depends on what you are looking for. Like posted before it does cost to unlock the full ver but in return you also get excel, powerpoint, and pdf also if you are using google docs you can sync it from the application.

Watch for sales/promotions on Docs To Go. It can sometimes be bought for about $10 (US).
