Mid cxd-pc 708 7" Android 2.2 apad

I recently bought Mid cxd-pc 708 7" Android 2.2 apad. I just got started with charging the battery. After charching I tried to connect it to my laptop using the usb cable adaptor it came with and the screen just locked and has not come up since then. The charging light shows green when you power on. How do I get the screen back on ok and be able to use the microsoft excel, word and powerpoint etc. How can I download my address book, audio and ebooks etc especially the Bible which was why I connected to my laptop. The manual has not helped much. Please advise me on what to do.

The apad is one of many knockoff tablets currently available for sale. There's not a wealth of documentation on them and even Android updates tend to be challenging. Did you install some sort of USB driver onto your PC before connecting the tablet? Windows would need drivers to know how to communicate with the tablet.
