Mifi a la vz Fascinate: 3G Mobile Hotspot app?

Would it be possible to identify and share the apk file for the VZ Fascinate[SamsungGalaxyS] and side-load it to the Captivate?

As I have access to a Fascinate I see by ICONage it would seem be: MobileAp.apk [in /system/app ]
What would be the use of MobileAP.odex?

Found this subsequently:

and it works..somewhat..so WIFI Tethering is possible even with AT&T

WiFi Tether is well documented here in the forums. It sets up an ad-hoc wifi hotspot which does work, but it's not without bugs, especially during setup.

I haven't upgraded to pre9 yet myself, but pre8 has been stable and working pretty well for me thus far.
