Might have to Swype to a new Galaxy!

Hello all...

Well, it happened! My Swype (beta I guess) died/expired today!

Not good! I've had it on my EVO for a couple a months and now without it, I really can't stand the pecking mode again.

Solution I know of...The Samsung Galaxy S has it stock with AT&T.

We have plans on Sprint, AT&T and US Cellular. I can swap, but hate to lose the EVO.

I was able to download it from their site, but doesn't work as a swype keyboard. Just normal pecking again.

Any ideas, or can it be purchased now??

Yours may have not expired yet. That's what he was saying. Soon it will. But it runs for a good bit.
But from the latest one that was released it shouldn't be up yet. So if you made an account with Swype you should be able to email yourself a new one and install that. That would be to soon if the most recent one is up. Plus they sent out a update for fixes to it a week or two ago.

Personally I haven't liked Swype since the fix. It runs super slow to register words.

Now I have the Epic and I personally love this phone a little more. Not just because of sype, but overall. I mean the screen is still large (4.3 to 4' is not much of a differ at all), faster, very responsive, awesome screen, numerous ways to txt. The Evo is still awesome though. Looking for a new phone just because your beta swype has expired is silly to me. That alone doesn't make a phone.
And idk what it is but phones that come with Swype with it on there work so much better.
Like I think slideit is better then the beta Swype but the swype on phones with it native work the best. So fluid and smooth. In my experience anyways.

Switch Input Method to the standard keyboard, and then back. It'll work as normal.

You'll have to do that each time you boot the phone, a minor PITA. They have some bug where the app certificate doesn't get loaded on boot.
 
InstantKarma is right, if your beta expired the new version has been available for a week now so you should be able to update.
 
OP - same thing happened to me yesterday, until i found a newer version apk download...works fine once again...the newer version i have that works is 1.61.37etc....

Just downloaded the updated apk for swype, and everything is back to normal. I'm running the 1.61.37 version as well.

I will do some more checking. A msg just popped today saying my beta had expired.

I did try slideit. Not too bad. Keys seem closer together makinh it a bit more tedious.

All you have to do is get the latest version from the beta page of their site, if you were already in the beta. They sent an email to everyone telling them this was going to happen.
 
Could someone please post the new apk for me since I never was on their beta program?

I would love ya guys forever if ya could pm it to me. Pretty please? This Android keyboard is killing me...badly..

EDIT: NEVERMIND, I found a working copy by googling for it:

Once installed on my phone, it shows up as Version: 1.61.37.8128.t100 and it works great.

It's cool, the word suggestion dialogue that pops up now is a nice black color and is no longer annoying bright white. It now matches my theme. Sweet. Glad my Beta expired now, since it forced me to find this new one.

Thanks for that tip! I was wondering why my swype wasn't working, all I could do was just type each letter like the regular keyboard. I just followed your advice and it's working again. Thanks a lot!
