Migrate Apps to SD Card?

Old Putz

Lurker
Hey, I'm an analog old fart in need of some help. My phone started running out of internal memory so I got a 16Gb SD card. I've got the SD card set as the default write disk, but I still keep getting warnings that I can't download new emails or receive voice mail because the phone storage is full.

I've got 14.7Gb of free space on the SD card. I keep deleting/disabling the clutter that came loaded on the phone, and that occasionally helps, but now I'm running into problems like if I disable Google Play (which I never use) then Google Maps doesn't work because they share files. It isn't like I've got 37,982 apps on the phone (I'm old, I don't do that stuff). The biggest files I've got are Chrone (75Mb) and Angry Birds (okay, allow me one stupid 46Mb vice). Other than that, it's just a bunch of 10Mb to 4Kb files. But they're eating up the phone's storage.

Is there any way to move some of these files to the SD card? Is there anything else I can do to free up some space? I moved more than 2400 old emails to the trash file, but this still doesn't seem to help.

Thanks

So I futzed around with this a bit more, to no avail. As an experiment I uninstalled Angry Birds, made certain that the SD card was the default write disc, and re-installed it. I even checked the free space in the phone's memory once it had been uninstalled (80-ish Mb). After re-installing, there are 6Mb of free space in the phone's memory, and still 14.8Gb of free space on the SD card. What the...?

unlock screen
tap the menu button (bottom right lit up one)
choose manage applications
slide screen till " DOWNLOADED" is hi-Lighted in the blue lines.
Go to each application and tap the option "move to sd card"
If you can move the app to sd it will give you the option to do so.
When you have all the apps moved to the sd card,
slide over to " All" is hi-Lighted in the blue lines.
and repeat, go to each application and the option "move to sd card"
When you have the apps moved to the sd card and more memory.
Look at the bars at the bottom of each screen to check memory used.

Then in the application manager you can disable apps you don't use.
This gives you more memory also.
