Root MildWild CM-3.8

Newbie
I am currently running the MildWild CM-3.8 and just wondered if there is a way to change the colour of the notification bar, battery and clock etc...?

The default colour is blue yet I have a green theme so it looks a bit stupid. When I added the Zip to the SD card there was also a Zip for Themes, should I load that to the phone and choose one from there???

Apart from this the ROM is perfect, phone seems like new with speed etc, I have dozens of Apps on there and still loads of space unlike the MIUI one I've just got shut of, great to look at but no internal space.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any help.

It's a CM based ROM and the developer provides the ThemeManager, use that and I think you can change the theme with it. If that's not enough you can always use the UOT Kitchen.

PS: The zip doesn't contain themes but you can find a lot on XDA.

ThemeManager and ThemeChooser are amongst the things that MildWild removes from this ROM - see the first post of the XDA thread. So if you want those you have to install an unmodified CM7 (or add them back to MildWild - I've not tried that, but I doubt he's removed support from the framework).

Of course there's always UOT Kitchen. Kitchen :)

Cheers for the info but i'm still stuck, I added the Zip Theme Manager which I downloaded from the same place as the ROM but cannot see anywhere on the phone where it is, there is a Theme Chooser but there are only 2 and they are both the same.

I tried the UOT and I get the the building part but the File Upload and the rest of it is way out of my league, sorry but a noob with this. But thanks anyway.

The file upload is asking for 2 files, SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk. One of these can be found in /system/app, the other in /system/framework.

If you have a root-capable file explorer, such as Root Explorer or ES File Explorer, you can copy these from your system area to your SD card, then to your computer and upload to UOT. Or just unzip a copy of the ROM on your computer and upload the files from there (which is probably simpler!).

Theme Manager will be a background app, not one you use. If you have the Theme Chooser going on your phone you then need to copy the theme apks to your sd card and then install them as apps before the theme chooser can use them. MildWild assumes that the ICS theming is one of the reasons you chose that ROM, and hence doesn't include the theme chooser.

Remember to take a nandroid before applying a uot theme, in case you do something wrong. Anything that changes the system has the potential to stop the phone booting - my first ever bootloop was when I messed up one of these.

Yeah - this has saved my skin twice now!

To be fair, with that particular problem (bootloop caused by misapplied theme) you can also fix it by reflashing the ROM without a wipe. But a nandroid is certainly the simplest solution, and a good habit to get into :)

hi,
yup UOT will sort that for you :) i only use the uni color top bar icons as this fixes the theme color - ie it prevents the icons going grey due to google service status ;)

hi,

....btw - how is mw38 running? there have been a few general performance issues with mw builds of recent - cheers

Its running great TBH, i've not had any issues with the performance at all, I had CM7 a while back and had nothing but crashes but this has been the best by far that ive had. Great on battery life too.

It's not 100% perfect though (but which ROM is???)

For instance when I'm using the Bluetooth hands free my phone used to come out of sleep when using the earpiece to activate the voice call dialler but now it just stays in sleep which is annoying but nothing major.

And as for my original issue, i'm not 100% confident as of yet to mess about with stuff that deep (its deep for me!!!) to resolve it though my default colour was blue so I have just changed my theme from green to blue to match ha ha

Just to wrap this one up, after gaining the bottle to try UOT I can happily say it did the trick! And I have created several Zips now to go with each theme which is great.

So cheers for the help and instructions.

In my humble opinion, after running pretty much all different roms, I came back to Wildmild. Simply fast, reliable and good default setup. Running ADW Launcher EX though. Only thing I found was that when calling, the screen has problems turning 'on' again, so I can end the call. Have to push power button once or twice then end call. But it is no biggy. Running 3.8 for 1 month now and loving it.

yeah im back running mw ox3 and it is really good imo - possibly the best mw build - have you tried dgb28? that is one of the best roms imo
