Military US and others

Must be nice being able to cycle your way through the PT test in the AirForce :D

Ouch that hurts oh wait no it doesn't cause i don't have to do that....
not to mention the army has the same option also to swim.

AF PT standards to max

run 1.5 mi 9:12
abdominal Circumference <35.00 in
push ups (1 min) 67
sit ups (1 min) 58

now i would like to point out the Army has 2 mins to do theirs
my age 23
run 2.0 mile 13:00
push ups 75
sit ups 80

the run i would say is about the same standard... but the others... come on army isn't that a bit easy... (and before you ask yes i can pass at army standards):D

I'm also an army brat (my dad has been in almost 22 years) and he even tried to talk me into going in to the airforce. :p

Thats usually the case that i hear about. I'm not going to lie out of the branches we do have it the best. But then again they don't respect rank as much.

I think that everyone should be more like the Marines where if a (e-4)Corporal tells a (e-1)private to do something they listen instead of being an ass. Yeah me being an e-4 im not an NCO yet but someone that has been in 3-6 months should listen to anyone that has been in more than a couple of years. but thats just me
end rant

I'm with you all the way, if you dont show respect you're not going to get it. So learn from your NCO's and when it's your turn a few years later and you're an NCO you can teach with wisdom.

e4 in the Marines is an NCO..

If you get in the Marine infantry an e3 can tell an e2 what to do and they will listen.

I don't remember the minimums... but here goes:

20 dead hang pull ups

100 sit ups

3 (YES THREE) Mile Run 20:30.

OOHRAH MARINE CORPS

Those overhand pullups or underhand chin ups? 20 chin ups is pretty easy. But I just worked my ass off out here to hit 20 overhand pull ups (chin above the bar.)

it can be overhand or underhand.

however it has to be a dead hang. the lower half of your body cannot move. No swinging, rocking or kipping.

I feel they are both the same overhand or underhand as it just works different muscles in your body.

Either, as long as the chin is above the bar.

The overhand works the muscles in your back. Improvement is slower, but you have a greater upper limit using your back muscles.

Underhand uses your chest more. Improvement happens rapidly, but it tops out at a lower point.

I started with underhand, while practicing overhand. When I maxed out overhand, I switched for my PFT, because it took less energy overall.

Thats why i didn't mention the Marines, even if their PT standards were the lowest they would still be the best "Military" branch IMO

Though some of you guys are just crazy but that goes for all groups of people. Did i mention that Marine chicks are fun?!

Umm... they were definitely interesting, that's for sure. Some of them were downright crazy, but I guess we all were a little bit.

I remember actually having a conversation about the best way to kill someone without getting out of our vehicle.

an intellectual conversation about angle and force of impact when discussing trying to decapitate the assailant....

It's disturbing now that I look back on it.

i thought that you had to go through a course first much like the Army has to?

this is why i want the "Buck Sgt" to come back
