Help Minor screen fault, worth replacing?

Shocky

Android Expert
Received this tablet today however first thing I notice is what looks like a smudge but under the glass.

It's very minor but it's the sort of thing I notice right away, I really don't want to return it but damn that's going to irritate me of if I don't. :(

Did you order it online or pick it up retail? If retail, I'd walk it back to the store and swap it ... online you have to deal with rma's and shipping and crap. Only you can tell how much it will drive you crazy.

I got mine last week and it came with a bright pixel. On the first day i cringed and decided to give it a day before returning it, because technically a single bright pixel is within the acceptable fault specifications for displays. Fortunately after using it for a day, the bright pixel when away. I realize a smudge won't ever go away, but if you only see it when you hold the pad a certain way or when it's off ... i guess i'd have to see it to decide.

Not much help, was I?

It was ordered online so would need to RMA, I've included an image so you see the problem.

Damn I hate RMA's. :(

If I were you I would send it back immediately! It is way too noticeable to put up with.

But that is just me. Every time I looked at the screen that is all I would see lol

Let me tell you a little story, which probably won't help in the least, but here goes anyway.

In November of '09, I bought myself a shiny new ultra thin laptop (Acer Timeline Series) with the promise of 8+ hours of battery life (which it lives up to, BTW) and the intention of bringing it on a long flight in January of '10 ... Philly to Hawaii. Anyway, in December, a little before Christmas, the screen goes dark as in black hole. Acer tech support was ... interesting. No tracking, only canned email responses and questionable repair estimates. Nevertheless, I did send it in and fully expected not to have it in time for the trip. It was returned to me a week before we left and everything has been fine since then. I still have it and I am glad i had it fixed under warranty, although at the time i was fussin' and fumin'.

Or, for a REALLY long winded account of another warranty repair, try my adventures with Toshiba.

Thanks guys. I'll be sending it back for sure, also noticed what looks like some debris stuck behind the glass in the left corner.

But do I go through Asus or the Retailer, Asus should be faster?

I'd call the retailer and bitch first. They are more likely to swap it for a new model. If you send it back to Asus, you will most likely get a refurb replacement.
