we both have an S3 bought at the same time. Since the 4.3 upgrade my wife's phone does not display the password swipe dots. Mine does! she still needs to swipe to access the phone but has to guess where the invisible dots might be. I cannot find anywhere to activate or deactivate the dots. Anyone able to point me towards how she gets her dots back please?

Do you mean pattern lock? Try setting it back to swipe then back to pattern. Look in settings/security and see if show passwords is ticked
