Missing Gmail Notification Icon-HELP

Hi everyone!

I need help with trying to get my GMAIL notification icon app to come back as it's been missing everytime (not showing/no notification sound) I get an incoming message within my own Gmail inbox.

What can I do to get this notification back on my Boostmobile Samsung Galaxy Prevail?

I am new here to the Forum, so any help is greatly appreciated!

Go into gmail. Press menu and then look for somewhere in there for notification sounds. You might have turned it off in there...?

Also. If that doesn't get you anywhere... Go into Settings> Applications> Manage Applications. Select Gmail and Clear Data for it.

I've had nothing but problems with the Gmail app not showing a notification when mail is received. Not only was it not reliable on my Prevail, it also does the same thing on my Marquee.

I switched to the stock email app and use it to sign in to Gmail. I've haven't had any problems since switching.
