Missing Phone Numbers on Contacts in GV

My apologies if I've posted this to the wrong group. I'm new to the forum and still learning my way around. If it matters, I'm using Android 2.2.1.

I learned earlier today that I can use Google Voice via the web to manage the contacts on my phone. That's awesome! Google had downloaded hundreds of contacts it picked up from my gmail inbox but I was able to clean those up nicely.

However, I've noticed that the phone number stored for a contact does not appear in the contact when viewed from GV. Anyone know why or what I can do to correct this?

I was afraid that editing a contact in GV, and leaving the phone number empty, would result in losing the phone number in the contact info on the phone. Luckily, this does not happen. But I'd still like to see and maintain the phone numbers for each contact via GV.

Thanks!

They're not really downloaded. Your contacts are shared among gmail, GV, Google Contacts, etc.

That's odd. So the contact has a phone number in gmail contacts and on your phone but not in GV? Are you accessing the GV site from your device or from your PC?

Not in gmail contacts or GV (via web). I'm accessing the gmail and GV sites via my PC. The phone numbers do not show in the contacts on either site.

However, the phone numbers are on the contacts on my phone.
