Can it be true

Hello everyone.

I hope some here can confirm / deny this.

I have a Huawei P6 a really good phone. I then reached a point where I have many apps. When I tried to install an app on approximately 40MB wrote that there was no more space left. But when I went into the phone's storage memory, I could see there was room for 200MB for apps yet.

I have so been told that it was to "buffer" / Moving apps and updates. But I could not update anything.

Is it true that one should not be able to use all its space on the phone.?

Not all of the space, no. If it has no space for caching temporary files or storing app data (which live in the same partition) it's going to suffer crashes. So yes, the OS will have a setting (not easily accessible to you) to tell it how much space it should keep free as a working space.

Note though: the installed size of an app is larger than the download size, so if 40MB is the download size it probably needs more than that in reality.

Yes, it is absolutely normal for the phone to stop installing apps before you are completely out of space.

As I said, apps and their internal data share the same space (the /data partition if you want to be technical - you can't see this with a file browser unless you are rooted). If you filled it completely you'd be unable to browse the web, receive email, social network updates or weather updates, and when something vital wanted to save data and could not then the whole phone would probably crash. Have you ever tried to use a PC with less than 200MB of space on its hard drive? (Well ok, I have, but that was in the days when that _was_ the size of the hard drive!). The OS is different, but it's basically the same problem.
