Help Missing the Play Store app in app launcher

I don't have the play store app icon inmy app launcher. I have turned off/on my phone several times but no success yet :confused: Would you pls help me...

I'm having this problem too (as of yesterday). Play and Market have completely disappeared from the app launcher, and I can't find any running services in the "Manage applications/All" section.

I've had problems with the Market (as it was) before, and had to uninstall updates to force it to work, but that doesn't seem to work this time (mainly because the apps aren't even in the running list!). There is a "com.android.vending" process, but I can't clear the cache and data (comes up with an error) to force a reset.

It all started yesterday when I went to uninstall the Google Voice update to give me some more app memory (this worked on my wife's O2 branded/locked Desire) - right at the very end of the uninstall, I got a force close error for the com.android.vending process.

Any ideas?
I have an unlocked and unbranded Desire, running 2.2.2 non-rooted.

Any help gratefully received!

I found a place to download the Play .apk again (see here). Installing the .apk seemed to work for me (although I did have to reboot the phone to get it to work after installing).

I hope this helps the OP, too.
