Hey guys, I'm about to make the jump to getting my triumph a new rom as they seem to be getting pretty solid. So, I was curious what what everyone thought was the more stable everyday rom. Thanks for the input!

imo both cm7 and miui are almost complete the only thing is hdmi doesnt work and that there are differences in the way they look. cm7 is more like stock gingerbread while miui has an ios feel to it. keep in mind though you can always change the way they look by using a different launcher or installing a theme through the appropriate app

EDIT: also you get more compatibility with apps and more features then the stock rom

I just switched to MIUI and won't be going back. Entire OS seems much smoother running and it's much better looking to boot. Battery life seems a bit better too I'm at 5% an hour versus about 8%

It's really easy to flash the ROMs.. just try each one for a few days and see which you like better.
A lot of the deciding factor will be your preference.

For me, I use MIUI as my primary ROM, but still switch back to CM7 now and then to test additional things.
I have a feeling that after Isaac releases his kernel with the HD games fix, I won't have any need to go to any other ROM.

IMO, MIUI has a better interface and the ROM has been a bit more stable for me than the CM7 ROM is.

Not putting the CM7 ROM down, it's still bad ass, I just prefer MIUI.

Isaac is being modest :) (even though its true).

But both have there Pros to them. Just look at the themes available for each, see which style you like the most, the modded iOS(theme) or the modded gingerbread(theme). Both is gingerbread just to let you know, MIUI just have a iOS theme.

That's another thing. I've installed CM before on my wife's phone, but I've never installed a kernel. Is that something that comes with the ROM?

I'm sure there are instructions in the MIUI thread.

FYI, thanks so much to everyone who's responding here. You're very helpful.

Every ROM comes with a kernel, but other developers can make kernels for any ROM(CM7, MIUI, or Stock ROM). Kernel made separately is normally better than the kernel that come with CM7 and MIUI, because the developer who made the separate kernel adds to the kernel that comes with CM7 and MIUI. Make sure when your flashing a kernel, that the kernel is for that kind(CM7, MIUI, or Stock). Separate kernels normally have a nicer effect(performance and battery life) because that's the purpose, to add to the kernel already in the ROM. Always read and understand what the kernel is doing, if you have questions ask on the thread of the kernel your trying to flash.

MIUI to me has a feel and features unlike any other phone - I personally could not compare it to iOS, I believe it's much better, and much better than stock gingerbread. Try both out. I believe that if more people tried MIUI (especially with some of the other themes for it) than they would probably stick with it over CM7.

Things I like about MIUI:
Interface
Interface options.
Themes. ( I like Neon themes)
Performance.
Battery life seems better (than...stock. yes. CM7.. I think maybe).
No general app area.
Ability to keep things cleaner
Awesome Phone APK/ contact manager interface
lockscreen
neat looking boot screens for themes.
camera interface
gallery interface
options interface
hmm... i'm sure there's more
it's just a smart design.

Well I'm thankful that some put work into it to make it and other to make it available for Triumph. Should try it if you're impressed to.

Austrie is absolutely right and especially where stressing that you need to make sure you're getting the correct kernel for whatever you're running.

As far as flashing a "third party" kernel, it's really easy.. you just download it to your SD Card, boot into recovery, MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR CURRENT INSTALLATION and then flash the zip.

If it's an overclockable kernel you can install an app (such as no-frills CPU control) and then set your phone for a higher (or lower) clock speed. I have mine set with a minimum of 245 mhz and max of about 1.3 ghz.. seems to work well for me.

If some of that doesn't make sense, then read every Kernel thread you can find. ;)

MIUI I use because I love the skinning options. CM7 is more for power user like you wanna tweak every little thing about it.

The one fatal problem with MIUI is a huge ring delay (like 2-3 rings on the other end before you phone starts ringing). I don't know how many people are experiencing it, but I actually had to move back to CM7 as this was actually interfering with my means of survival.

I spent hours the other day trying to get CM7 to look like MIUI with golauncher and all this other crap and it just isn't the same. QQ

I think what get some users with MIUI is that its set with an IOS theme when its first booted after flashing and the point being made on how easaly custamizable it is gets missed. If you dig into all the theme settings you will soon learn that its a totally unique experience.

I flashed cm7 onto my phone last night and it's amazing, no problems, and I've messed with it non stop and done alot of really awesome customization, I think* it has given me worse service, like all of a sudden I'll get like 10 text, but it may just be nothing. It's only happened a few times. So I've put time into it, and the flashy looks of cm7 grabbed me, and after looking up all the miui customization and what ppl had done, I wish I'd tried it first now

Neither MIUI or CM7 mess with the radio code, you will have the same signal regardless of ROM.

That's awesome to know! because I didn't want to have to get rid of the rom over sumthin so lame

Did you try the MIUI launcher? I found one that I was using with CM7 until Isaac made us a working ROM
