MK802 and MK802II Custom ROM [Altonus MM]

THKS.

Where is the boot.img in your device (MK802)?

How you can extract it?

adb shell

su

# make sure sdcard is mounted

dd if=/dev/block/nandc of=/sdcard/boot.img

exit

# boot.img is just a file name you choose yourself, could be what ever

And if you wanna make sure, you could use a Linux box and see if you could splitt the image, I use split_bootimg.pl

Example:
split_bootimg.pl /tmp/boot.img
Page size: 2048 (0x00000800)
Kernel size: 8471836 (0x0081451c)
Ramdisk size: 858803 (0x000d1ab3)
Second size: 0 (0x00000000)
Board name:
Command line:
Writing boot.img-kernel ... complete.
Writing boot.img-ramdisk.gz ... complete.

Then you proberly got the right image

So you shold look for partions on your device that is about 20 Mb

Anyone that knows about this, I see this when I run CM 10 on my MK802ii

WifiHW ( 90): Failed to open wlan fw path param (No such file or directory)

E/SoftapController( 90): Softap fwReload - failed: -1

E/WifiStateMachine( 315): Failed to reload STA firmware java.lang.IllegalStateException: command '8 softap fwreload wlan0 STA' failed with '400 8 Softap operation failed (No such file or directory)'

W/CommandListener( 90): Failed to retrieve HW addr for wlan0 (No such device)

What is the fw path it looks for, what is the path on the stock firmware ?

MAKING YOUR OWN ZIPS

If you notice, compatibility zips have the following files structure;

META_INF
bootloader Folder
system
additions
and bootcm10...

I'll guide you throiught finding all these files and compiling them.

But first, you will need a few things.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1946249 <- You'll need this for signing and opening other rom zips.

Install the android development kit, as well as adb
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-install-adb-on-windows-full-guide/

Alright, let's start with the /system folder. The following extra folders are in this folder:
bin
etc
usr
vendor
lib

These can EASILY be pulled from a working zip... although if your device has no available roms, you can use ADB to pull it directly from your device.

The adb code would be adb pull /system/ C:\pathyouwanttosaveto
This code will save the WHOLE /system folder, so you might need to dig around to find just the files you want.

For the META-INF folder, use the one provided by me *here* (link will be up shortly)... unless you really know the ins and outs of making flashable zips.

For the boot_cm10 IMG. use your boot image. and place that in the folder (once again, unless you used your own meta_inf, because this could ruin the flashing process.) To extract your boot image follow this guide:
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=HOWTO:_Unpack,_Edit,_and_Re-Pack_Boot_Images

Extracted boot images are sometimes shitty, so using a boot image from a different rom is usually best.

While waiting for this, you might wanna try the updated software for the MK802II, it was released 29 of september 2012

More info is found here

This software is broken, and your device will not boot after a reboot, a new image will be released in a few days according to Rikomagic germany

I'm sorry but what's the holdup? Thought you said you had them done, uploading when u got home? As in you're on vacation somewhere?

I have the mk802 512mb and I've flashed several recovery images with no luck. the 4.x will flicker on input, the 5.x will reboot on input. I flashed 5 with livesuite, and 4 with the script. Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this? I've seen ohters with the issue but thus far no one has found a solution that they've posted.

Guys sorry for the delay in posting.. had some personal problems to take care of... but anyways, I've been reading the replies today.. I'll post a guide on Removing the boot.img from files etc. Where to get vendor files, all that jazz neccessary to port make compatibility zips and mods maybe... Once again sorry Alot guys, but it's great oto see you guys are working together to solve this problem!

No, I wasn't on vacation.. I wish.. but I wasn't.. and I tried u-loading a mk802 II zip but as someone else said it's broken... I think it's the vendor files (drivers etc), but I'm not sure

Hello, great work on the 802, this is very good news! Any chance you have done any work on the MK 808? We still dont have bluetooth. Also need to know the best way you think to root the device. Thanks for your help you guys are great!

Hey guys, for those of you risky enought to mke your own compatibility zips, I'm posting up a guide.. Ben really busy tho.. haven't gotten on af much

Hey hey hey, I've got a pair of Zero Z902s that I recently got. The stock firmware is just a mess. I've been able to get ADB shell working, and the stock ROM has a su binary in it, but it isn't possible to remount /system as read-write, so nothing meaningful can be done to make the "factory" firmware less terrible.
I'm familiar with boot.img, and should be able to pull one from the "stock" firmware via adb, then unpack it. I've done some ramdisk mods in the past, and am working on a Samsung tablet ROM, so I've got a good set of skills for this type of job :)

The Z902 is very tricky, I have only ever been able to flash anything on mine using PhoenixCard and a "stock" M802 firmware.
Any tips on flashing CWM for the z902? Will the M802 build of CWM work?

Since I have two of them and they're so cheap, I'm not super worried about messing one up.

(although mine comes from a different company and is black in colour with i believe 4GB nand).

Im really struggling to find the guides/files that i need to hack it. I would ideally like to install CWM but it would appear that i need a compatibility file and i can only find one for MK802 series. Can anyone advise me, point me in the direction of the right resource or otherwise help me out?

Would it be possible to get a compatibility zip from you for this?

Thanks in advance

EManU3LXX i'm searching for help making a compatibility Zip for a CEMA10N7 tablet (also know as Artview AT9C), it's a Allwinner CPU based as MK802 ;)

Would you help me making it?
