mkv player

I've tried rockplayer, qqplayer, and a few other ones... They play mkv files, but they're always really choppy and the sound is out of sync.

Does anyone know of any media players that can do mkv files smoothly?

Try also MoboPlayer.
If the playback is choppy, then either your phone is not powerful enough, or the mkv file is too complex encoded. In this case the solution is to convert the video using H264 baseline profile.

im planning on getting galaxy tab 10.1 i was wondering if i used moboplayer there can it play my files that range from 480 720 or 1080p, also some are 10 bit or 8 bit encoded, some hi10p or H264, so i wanted to know if it can play these files without being choppy, or atleast still watchable, also if anyone can recomend other video players it would be appreciated ohh and if it helps to know most of them are mkv
