Help MM-qcamera-Daemon bug on S5 lolipop

Hey Guys,

Found it necessary to come to this forum as I have a problem with my S5 which is grinding on me. Basically I have the qcamera daemon bug. 3 hours ago my phone was at 100% charge, and now it at only 13% and is very very hot!!! Bar one three minute phone call haven't used it. I installed G-sam battery and discovered that it was the qcamera bug that had used up 85% of my battery in just 3 hours. I have googled about this and there does not seem to be much information about this, or a fix for Android lollipop! At least not one that I can find. I've read lots of info on phones with KitKat that suffered from this, but the fix that was offered was upgrade to to 5.0!!

Anyway I hope someone can point me in the direction of a fix.

Regards
Andy

Hello and welcome to Android Forums Andrew Oakley :)

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your Lollipop update. Have you tried wiping the cache partition or a Factory Data Reset to resolve your issue, as per #1.3 and #2.3 of S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide?

Hi and thanks for the response. I haven't done that as I didn't update the phone. It came with lollipop. However I will try that and see if it helps.

After havin this problem I sent an e-mail to Samsung support.
They told me to solve this problem trough Samsung Kies.
You should connect your phone to PC, open Samsung Kies, go to Tools and select Firmware Upgrade and Intitialision.
This worked for me. maybe it will work for you too.

Do you accidentally remember if the firmware version given to you by hitting that option in Kies was the same as your current. Because mine is. And I'm wondering if I should do it because it wipes everything.

It was the same version. But this operation through Kies resets your android to its original state.

I have to mention that after a while the problem "came" back.
The only solution was to install manually another version of Android 5.0. I downloaded the official Uk Android and now its bug free.

Sorry for my broken english.

Oh it seems that this qcamera deamon will haunt me forever !! :D So where did you get it from?
I've never rooted my phone. I just never felt the need to. Is the UK version 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 or 5.0 again?

And why the F I've suddenly become 45 years old lol :D Nasty forum that is. It decieded to make me almost 2 decades older. That's insane. I;ve never set my age.

It is Android. 5.0. Someone downloaded it for me and installed it. He told me that you can find that android version with a simple google search. I don't know if your phone has to be rooted or not.
Sorry I can't give you more Info...

I am still having this problem after trying ever "fix" I found online.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S5 G900-F Lollipop version

I had it pop up on my sprint s5, checked everywhere & couldn't find much other then it was a bug and there was supposedly a fix patched in somewhere down the line in the Android updates. I was running 5.0 when it happens - as you stated my phone would get crazy hot because the battery was dying at an extremely fast rate.
I believe I wiped the cache in recovery and did a battery pull and that took care of the problem. people say I will always come back but I've yet to experience again - fingers crossed ;)

Daemon kept coming back despite factory resets on my galaxy s5
The cause of the problem was VIBER. Since I deleted it its not come back
