Help MMS during a call

I'm on a rooted Galaxy S3 on AT&T so I'm on GSM. I am unable to send MMS during a call. It only sends an MMS after I hang up. I know this happens with CDMA phones, but this shouldn't happen with GSM phones, correct? I didn't have this problem when I was on a rooted Galaxy S2. Is this an issue with the Galaxy S3?

It depends on your data connection. When you are on a call, data should still be active, ergo MMS should still be able to send.

SOME phones don't use switching. This can mean if you are on GPRS (no 3G connection) then you cannot receive calls when using data and vice versa.

I have no idea how the SGS3 handles GPRS data though as my network doesn't offer less than 3G.

Several Sprint phones can do SVDO (simultaneous voice and data) while connected to 3G. The Viper 4G LTE, Optimus Elite, EVO 4G LTE, and S3 are all capable. Some attributed it to a new chipset from Qualcomm, but I've seen a Motorola engineer say it was simply the carriers (verizon and Sprint) not enabling it.

In any event, I've also read that MMS may not work with SVDO due to carrier restrictions. Just be happy you can surf while on a call, something that isn't possible with many CDMA handsets.
