Is there a way to get the updated 4.2.2 MMS on cm10.1 instead of the 4.2.1 MMS that comes on the fix.

yes. as long as your apns are correct it doesnt matter which version you run.
i know alot of people here use the flashable zip to fix their apns, but i use "apn backup and restore" from the google market.
it takes some tweaking, but you can convert it to a system app with titanium backup, and use it to restore good APNS from other ROMS you may be using.
i'm running an inverted version of 4.2.2 with zero issues.
