Android Question

Two days ago my Galaxy S4 running Lollipop 5.0.1 started showing MMS (picture) messages with a time stamp of ~two days in the future. Regular text messages timestamp correctly.

Caches have been cleared, double and triple checked that the use network time option is selected.

Any suggestions?

LOL, funny thread title.

I don't know if timestamp is generated by sender or receiver. Are the future messages all originating from the same person? How does the time stamp look on their phone?

It's technically my hubby's phone, I'm just posting for him cause he's somewhat technologically inept. :p The images all came from me, from my S5, and only started happening out of the blue on Friday. My timestamps are all correct. No one else messages him images, but I will get my Mom to send him something and see what happens. She has an HTC One (Windows phone). Will update.

Alright, so it looks like it's just from my phone, oddly enough. The image my mother sent him came through correctly, so I tried again but still buggered, this time timestamped 08/18/15 8:23AM. I will try to find someone with another Android to send him something to rule out OS issues.

Messages have two time stamps - apps are supposed to know how to sort them and more importantly, so is the carrier.

Try Textra on his phone, it knows what to do when one of the time stamps is insane - and you can slide the message to the side and see both time stamps if they disagree.

Send a new picture after installing Textra as the default.

If that fixes it, it's the carrier's fault - and good luck getting them to believe it much less fix it. But it's a years old known problem.

And if Textra does fix it, there you go - it's unique that way and it's pretty good anyway, my personal favorite fwiw.

Thank you EarlyMon, Textra did correct the issue. It is still rather odd that it's thus far only texts (and only images) coming from my phone that are resulting in these futuristic timestamps though.

Yeah.

It's a roll of the dice when it's going to hit.

Sometimes it's my brother, sometimes my wife, there's no logic to it.

I know for a fact it's been known to happen in the US, UK, and Australia.

I say enjoy Textra and ignore that it is what it is. :)
