MMS Issues

Been having issues sending MMS every since I got my Nexus 5 (late December). Get a "Failed: Long hold to check APN settings". It's sporatic at best. No real pattern to pinpoint when/where it will or will not send MMS. I've done a bit of reasearch, but no real answers. Any ideas on a fix? Looked to be a common issue after initial launch, but I can't find much on it recently. Unrooted phone on Sprint using ChompSMS.

Have you updated your PRL/Profile lately?

That can help with random network issues.
 
MMS uses the APN data to send (and receive). Check yours against what Sprint says it should be.
 
Try................. with the SIM already inserted into the phone.

Tap Applications
Tap Settings
Under WIRELESS & NETWORKS Tap More...
Tap Mobile networks
Tick box Data enabled
Tap Access Point Names
Tap on the APN that is already selected, take screen shots of all the settings (press Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time), scroll down and take more screen shots as necessary. Just in case you wish to revert to these settings in the future.
Back one page to APNs on the top bar
With the same selected APN Tap the 3 vertical squares/dots on the top right corner
Tap Reset to default

Interesting thing is under mobile networks there is no Access Points Name setting for me to tap on.

Within the Access Point Names there are settings for MMS proxy and MMS port, also other settings, which can be altered.
As your Carrier device does not have this Access Point Names option displayed, sorry I cannot be of help.
This route was the way in which I enabled my Internet and MMS.
 
Does your device show your Phone number ?...

Apps>Settings>About phone>Status>My phone number.

If the device does not show your phone number and as KitKat does not offer the option to input/change and store/save.....you'd need to take the SIM and find an iPhone 4/4s (iPhone 5 uses Nano SIM so it is not comaptible unless your SIM is a Nano with a Micro adaptor) and use the iphone settings to store your number to the SIM.

PS: Easiest way is to be prepared with a SIM slot pin, enter an Apple Store and find a suitable device.
I asked politely first as it was taking a liberty and they were eager to help.

May also try to Reset the Device to Factory Default..
 
Thanks for all the suggestions!!! Been using Hangouts for the past day or so and the few MMS I have sent, non have failed. Hopefully the fix is as simple as that!!
