Help MMS over WIFI

Hey All,

Quick question. My GF just bought a GS3 on AT&T and I just wanted to know for sure that you cannot send a MMS over WIFI, just when you have the data enabled? I know there are some 3rd party apps that can do it but not the stock messenging app.

She previously has an HTC inspire and she's saying you could send an MMS message over WIFI but I wasn't sure if that was true. Before I had my GS3 I had an Evo 4G and I couldn't remember if I could or not.

as far as att i dont know with stock mms but with tmobile you can call and send any kind of message out if she wants to do so with att maybe a 3rd party mms app sorry if this didnt help

Actually all MMS is sent over a Data connection. With the phone on Wi-Fi and you send a MMS data comes on in the background to send. If you are in a weak or no Data area it will not go. That said there are 3rd party messaging app that can use Wi-Fi.

Not sure about funky US variants but with an international, non cdma s3, it depends on your config.

If you only have 1 apn for data and mms, wifi overrides this apn (with the type set as "default" ) completely.

However if you have a second apn with just mms settings (and type set to "mms" ) this will allow connection whilst wifi is on.

This isn't just the s3. Any of the "international" or rather "non-us" android phones are like this. US variants are a law unto themselves however so not sure how cross transferable this is
