I installed a custom rom and lost the mms settings. The data is setup, but I dont want to leave the data on for mms. Is there a way to add a custom apn for mms?

Thanks

menu-wireless&networks-mobile networks-access point names-menu-reset to default or you can just add a new apn, instead of pressing reset just press add new apn and add the settings my added apn says
Name AT&T APN: WAP.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username: WAP@CINGULAR.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MICC 310
MNC 410
Auth type blank

By data turned on you mean you have to have mobile networks checked right?

As fas as I know you need data network to send/rec mms. It doesnt count against your data plan but you still need that connection for mms. I have internet blocked on a razr (for my grandma) and it cant do mms cause of this.

From the factory there was an apn setting for mms. It allowed me to receive mms without being connected to a mobile network, data. There has to be a way to recreate this. Otherwise ill just have to restore to the rooted rom, hopefully it will still have these settings.

And you tried manual adding the mms settings above? thats the one I manually added, my original mms was the same, except for name:mms and apn type:mms, supl

And since your rooted I dont know if the restore default apns option would work

It only restored medianet.

Try:

APN: att.mvno

Proxy not set, everything else the same as above. Save. Toggle airplane mode on and off. (Or restart). Worked for me...

I used this accept for apn type use mms

How do you set your custom APN once you make it? I've tried discarding the original and everything, there is just no option to set my new one as far as I can find

You can't delete the original one that came on the phone. There is an app called apn manager that should let you switch apns if you can't do it from the phone
