Mobile hotspot problem "mobile data link lost"

Hi guys,

I hope you can help me... I'm trying to connect a tablet (with Android 4.0.4) to a Motorola Razr (with Android 2.3.6) using the Razr as a mobile hotspot.

(The plan I'm on allows 4gig. of data and apparently allows tethering, if that makes a diference.... )

Anyway, when I enable the Razr as a mobile hotspot, the tablet appears to connect to the phone as it shows up as a connected device on the Razr (and says 'connected' under XT910 on the tablet), and the blue connected symbol appears on the top of the screen on the Razr and remains there. Then within a few seconds, another symbol appears on the Razr, which similar to the blue connected symbol (and appears next to it) but is grayed out and appears to indicate the lost data link. I also get the message "Tethering: Mobile data link lost" on the Razr. The tablet doesn't connect to the Razr at all.

(Also, I have been able to connect the tablet to my router at home using wi-fi, so I'm confident that the tablet can successfully connect to another device by wi-fi...)

I would really prefer to not have to install other (third party) apps (that is, I'd like to use the software in the phone and the tablet if at all possible.... maybe it's not?)

Any suggestions that can help me connect these devices would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Jack.

It's working! I'm not quite sure why, but it is!

I noticed there was widget with 4 on/off buttons - they look like airline mode, bluetooth, wifi and something else - I enabled the right button (the one I'm not sure about) and then I was connected! The other settings remained the same, that is, the mobile hotspot remained selected, the security settings, MAC address, etc, were the same, but I could now connect to the browser.

The strange thing is, I then turned that button off and the connection remained! (therefore, I don't know what fixed the problem).

Anyway, all good now.

Jack.
