Root Mobile ID

If you're not sure, try freezing the app (any) and go for a couple days of regular use and rebooting occasionally. If there's no hitch, it's safe to uninstall for you.

i deleted google +,gmail, email,id,all vm related apps like my account,etc...did leave activate, removed shopper, wallet, street view, maps, google search, stock launcher, widget tutorials, home screen tips, pico tts, voice search, voice recorder, facecrap, all the stock live wallpapers but left live picker, news and weather,swype...all i can think of atm. i did replace the email apps with one of my choice.

Hi all...

I downloaded HOLO Launcher, which I read about on this forum, as a way to stop/freeze that annoying mobile ID icon. It works great, I like it, but I have to pull up 'running systems,' click on 'force stop/clear data' every time the phone powers on after powering down. The settings deactivate and revert back to default and Mobile ID keeps popping up with the 'install' icon. It's really annoying. Is there a way to permanently stop that d*mn thing without rooting the phone. I may root it a little later on, but first I want to learn it better and get used to it in stock mode.

Thanks to all of you for all the GREAT info on the lg OE. This site is been very helpful to me, being a new OE owner (I've had mine for about 2 months now)... Like it so far.

First of all, having a rooted phone essentially acts no differently than using it stock. It still is stock, rooting just gives you full access of system files and other things that otherwise would be hidden from you. Now if you don't want to do it because of the whole void your warranty thing, then that's up to you, but you can still fully un-root. My primary suggestion is to delete that frickin mobile ID crAPP and the only way to do so is to have root.

You could root it. Delete Mobile ID. Then unroot it. Just make a backup of the app first before uninstalling it. Which you will need to use an app that can uninstall system apps btw. And when you want to send the phone back for some reason just reroot it and use a system app installer and put it back in the system, then unroot again.

Is it possible to delete a system app thru adb without rooting the phone? I would imagine not, but I don't know enough about adb to be sure

You need to be rooted to grant superuser permissions to ADB to remount /system to R/W and delete the app, IIRC.

You can get a root shell in adb or the terminal emulator using the 'lit' exploit. Then use that shell to remount the system read-write and delete any app you want from /system/app. If you screw up and delete a wrong app and simi-brick it, you can boot into recovery and use the same exploit to get a root shell and unbrick it.
