Root Mobile Network Issues

Hi Guys

I seem to have run into a problem.

Since updating the Revolution HD to 5.2.4 I have been having intermittent problems with my mobile network.

I cannot get a constant data feed. Any app I open I get maybe several seconds of data usage and then it hangs for several seconds or the upload arrow sticks and I have to delete the APN and reset in order for it work again.

The first thing I did was to see if there was a problem with the carrier (Three) as my wife has a Wildfire but there was no issue with her phone.

So below are the other things I have done in order to try and resolve the issue.

1 - Ran Superwipe and did a fresh install of Revolution 5.2.5
2 - Flashed the Radio to 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2
3 - Reset the APN and also set network mode to WCDMA Only and also GSM/WCDMA Auto
4 - Factory Reset
5 - Wiped data/dlvik cache
5 - Flashed to LeeDroidHD

I flashed my RIL which matches the above radio and still nothing.

Is there anything I can do to resolve this? Am I missing something really simple?

Thank you in advance:)

I'm guessing you mean you flashed the LeeDrOiD Kernel in Step 5?

You have done everything right but in an arse about face type of way. lol Only thing I could think of is that the Kernel could be at fault. I'd suggest just flashing 5.2.5 on its own as that comes with the ARHD Kernel pre packed. Then see how that works if there is still no improvement go the RCMix kernel and so on.

The order as it should be: (To the best of my knowledge)
1 - Factory Reset
2 - Ran Superwipe and did a fresh install of Revolution 5.2.5
3 - Flashed to LeeDroidHD
4 - Wiped data/dalvik cache
5 - Reboot
6 - Flashed the Radio to 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2
7 - Reset the APN and also set network mode to WCDMA Only and also GSM/WCDMA Auto

I'd also recommend updating to 5.2.6 if none of that gives you any luck the new build has been released and I'm testing it and will upload to my thread in the root section this afternoon. On that topic can I ask where you downloaded the ROM from?

Hi and thank you for your reply.

I tried your advice and flashed the ARHD 5.2.5 & 5.2.6 Kernel and still had the issue. I wiped and formatted everything I could and flashed the RCMix kernel and sadly I was still faced with the same issues.

And so the mobile data issues went on.

I decided as it may well end up being a return back to HTC so I flashed it back to the stock kernel and updated to the latest 2.50.

The last thing was to S-ON so fired up Visionary, temp rooted and used the easy radio tool to set it back.

Low and behold as soon as I did this, all my mobile data issues disappeared. It’s now working just as good as it did before. No hangs, no upload arrow sticking. All sorted!!!

All that trial and error and I finally got to the bottom of the problem.

Is anyone aware of this? Have you had the same data problems? For anyone else it might be worth a try.

Funnily enough, I remember a thread somewhere months ago that described a very similar thing and even though he had not realised it was the S-ON, he thought as he had unrooted and returned everything to stock, this is what fixed it. He was right!!!

If your back to stock, personally I think you took a step backward...did you not think to maybe try LeeDrOiD which in my opinion thanks to most of the visual mods being included as well as having better battery life than ARHD while being nigh on as smooth would have been the better choice and would have sorted it all out. To go back to stock seems like you threw in the towel before the last round. That said though if the whole tinkering thing isn't your bag then I can totally understand. I don't mind the odd issue if it gives me an excuse to tinker.

I'm definitately rooting again. I unrooted purely as a safeguard if I had to send the phone back to HTC.

I did actually try LeeDroid as in my original post and to be honest found it better than ARHD. However, even on this kernel I had the Radio issues and I rely heavily on mobile data/GPS as I'm out of the house 14hrs a day.

I dont think it was anything to do with any kernels I flashed to. The mobile data issue seemed to come from S-OFF. Maybe it corrupted somwhere along the lines of flashing a new kernel. I have no idea! At least in the future if this happens again I don't have to unroot, I can just S-ON and S-OFF again to sort the problem out.

Once the dinenr is in the slow cooker, I'm rooting again and I'm going to have a play about with Leedroid. Is LeeDroid your kernel?

Ahh you seem to have misunderstood. I was saying you should have tried the LeeDrOiD ROM with the LeeDrOiD Kernel. Not stayed with Android Revolution as your ROM. Lee cooks both ROMS and KERNELS.
