Help Mobile Network State Disconnected

Hello, everyone. I'm new to this forum, so please excuse if I am doing something wrong, haha.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3. Boost Mobile is my service provider. Two days ago, I got a usual free text from Boost stating that my dad's account would be charged however much he pays monthly on June 23rd. We have the auto payment system, so that's what happens every month.

Sometime after I got the text, I noticed my "4G LTE" symbol at the top of the screen was gone. I tried refreshing my FaceBook, and it showed I was offline. I went into settings and into status, and under "Mobile Network State", it said "Disconnected". I tried rebooting my phone several times. I used the restart function, and then powered it off and powered it back on. I also pulled the battery, but still no luck. I toggled Airplane mode on and off several times and checked that the "Limit Mobile Data" option was not on. After trying of combination of all that stuff, still no luck.

This afternoon, while we were at Walmart, I noticed that my "3G" symbol came back on. As soon as we left the store, it was disconnected again. Maybe I was somehow picking up someone's hotspot?

The only recent change I have made to my phone was, I think, on Thursday when I was prompted to update the Android system to 4.4.2 which I did. This is not a huge problem at the moment, since I still have phone, text, and wifi, but it is annoying. I really don't want to have to call Boost Mobile and get through those stupid robots. I was just going to wait until the 23rd and see if my service would return when they reset my data, but I just wanted to see if there is a simple fix for this.

Thanks in advance!

I dealt with boost customer service theyre gonna make you factory reset or have you punch in dialer codes to update prl. so search post the boost forums for s3 here and do the prl yourself its not hard just pressing buttons. could be theyre network issue. look up on there website and see what it says for theyre service. Welcome to AF!!!!

FACTORY RESET IS ALWAYS LAST RESORT...if you do backup pics to sd and contacts.. look up helium app to backup apps

I tried the PRL update myself. It said that it completed the update, but still no luck. I think I'll go ahead and wait until the 23rd when my data plan resets. I think it may be a Boost problem, considering the fact that I got a text the morning it stopped working saying when the next payment would be. Maybe when my data resets, it will fix itself.

If the problem persists after that, I'll just go ahead and do the backup and then do whatever they tell me on the phone. I'll tell ya, I have been really fed-up with Boost, mainly because of how hard it is to talk to a person when you call. They make it harder than ever to do certain things.

Well, thanks. At least I have wifi for now.

Lots of people lost data through Virgin Mobile (Boost's prepaid twin through Sprint) right after the KitKat update. PRL and profile update didn't do it for me, so I reactivated my phone to the network. For Virgin Mobile that's using ##72786# in the dialer - not sure if it'd be the same for Boost.

You can also try contacting the Social Media team through Facebook; they can refresh the connection for you. I don't think waiting until a new month will help, since it's related to a hiccup in the OS.
