Mobile security/find phone/how to secure it?

Hey. I've been installing those "find your lost phone" apps recently.

I've tried almost everything. The apps i'm most satisfied with is sms commander and avg webpage to find your lost phone.

But what i'm not satisfied with. Is how easy it is for thiefs to just uninstall those apps.

If a thief find my phone and break my incredible pattern lock. Can they just uninstall sms commander and avg?

If they don't break my pattern, they will just go into recovery mode and install a new flash?

So my question is:
Am i right about everything i said? And is there a way to make a password/lock to the recovery menu (power button+volume down) and/or an app that is almost impossible to uninstall for others?

(yeah i know i can lock the settings/uninstall part on my avg app, but they can easly remove that app through usb connection)

Using android 2.3.3 rooted - htc desire

You can use SmartApp Protector (free/paid). With that you can either pattern/code lock any application including Packaging Manager and Market. After this anyone who wants to delete/delete from market needs to input a code or a pattern. Works really well.

Idk about the recovery though :/

Well, if you lost your phone, you need to report it. Both to the carrier and the police. The carrier can track the phone (as long as it is on and is connected to cell towers) and alert police to where it is.

If nothing else, the carrier can 'dirty' the ESN so that the phone will never make any phone calls again. (Or, if it ever does get recovered, it can be returned to you and they can clean the ESN.) So, even if the people who stole your phone wipe your device and try to use it as their own, it won't work as a cell phone.

I like Webkey. You can see the screen on your phone, remotely lock it, remotely start an app, remotely turn on GPS, get its GPS co-ordinates, take a picture, start a sound recording app... pretty much anything you can do if you had the phone in your hand.
