Help mobile wifi

You guys were so helpful on my other question, I have another one for you. How are you dealing with staying connected when your on the road? Is there a device I can buy without a monthly contract to keep me connected? What I have to do before leaving my wifi zone is I order my coffee before leaving the house. The other day I wanted to order when I was leaving the shopping center and I did not have an internet connection. I turned on data briefly to try and order but that did not work. So what are my options for having wifi to go?

As far as I know there's no free option for you. Even if you buy a mobile hotspot device that will give you WiFi connectivity but the hotspot still needs a cellular service connection coming in to provide a WiFi signal going out. One good thing is there are now numerous places to get access through public WiFi networks, either through some restaurants and most public libraries. Also some cities offer municipal public WiFi but those are pretty sparse, with lobbyists for corporations like Comcast and AT&T paying lots of money to our allegedly elected officials to keep no-fee, municipal WiFi a rarity.
So you do have options if you're willing to jump from one WiFi location to another but not a seamless, always connected WiFi wherever you travel.
