This is not my work. Its something I found after looking through forums regarding the random phone crash.

Thought after some testing I would share this. This will help all those experiencing force closes with the phone.apk. After some research and reading the phone random crash/FC is not unique to the Elite CM9 build. It effected several mdpi devices.

Standard disclaimer... you rooted it, your warranty is void. You use this and any modified software at your own risk.

Instructions...
Download apk
Using your favorite file explorer replace the existing phone.apk in system/app. Don't forget to set permissions (rw-r-r)

Or from your PC use adb ...

It has worked on his phone and using the apk provided with the latest CM9 Beta. I can't confirm or deny the zip you're speaking of. Or how it will behave with miui considering its not the same dialer. I'd advise against it. This is for CM9 not CM9 based roms. Maybe have ken look at the code in this apk for the MIUI port. The force close/crash was a dpi issue so I'm sure he can port the xmls/resources.arsc

The answer slider is barely viewable while getting a call, other than that works great
