Mod in Spectrum Forum?

Hey just wondering if there is a mod that is checking out the Spectrum forum? There are a bunch of rooting threads in the regular forum that could stand to be moved. Some devs are finally getting on board so there is finally some progress being made in this area. :)

Thanks for the heads up, magdelaine. We're on it. ;)

If its easier, there is a report button on every post in every thread. You can also use that to report thread moves :)

Great point. :)

But I do like to see notification like this as well, because Guides can act on it quickly, relieving Mods of such things, even though they're fine with moving threads, etc.

Oh wait, you don't see reports for that?

No, the
report.gif
button sends a post to the "Reported Posts" section of the Moderator Central forum which is accessed only by Mods in red and Phases.

I think guides should be able to see that too... Could always help if it's something simple such as a thread move.

I think I like that idea, too. :)

It's kind of a tiered system in that the bulk of the thread moving and other forum maintenance is mostly done by the larger Guide Staff, leaving deeper forum work to the Mods who have special tools to help get rid of true spammers, etc. Mods do the moving, etc too of course, but it's good to have a Staff group dedicated to that stuff in particular.

Plus, Guides routinely get the info you're referring to from Moderators in the Guides Central forum, or via PM. :)

Xda has a report reason radio selection, of which thread maintenance is an option. If something like that was implemented, reports could be directed more appropriately

Here at AF they all go to a special sub-forum in the Moderator Central forum. Each report appears as a new thread there for discussion.

Once something is decided the title is changed to how it was handled or what the next step may be, such as "OTB&C" (one touch ban and clean, meaning it was overt spam etc obviously in need of a ban and all posts/threads removed), "perma ban," "FAO (mod's name)," "suggestions please," and sometimes a "fao Guides."

Usually the subsequent posts in that Reported Posts thread will be descriptive of why this or that was done, or nothing done. Sometimes it'll have stuff that is said to be needed for Guides to be included, etc.

It's been working well. The only tweak I'd be in favor of is an actual selection in the Mod tools there for a whole Reported Posts thread to be copied to Guides Central rather than the Mods sort of having to start over in the fairly rare event they want Guides aware of something or to be involved in some discussion.

Yes but what I meant was, report>move thread option>thread generated in guides central. Simple filter for thread moves. I.report thread moves on a daily basis. If this is impacting moderation work, it makes sense for guides to do it.

Sounds like a great tool to me. Could refine the whole maintenance thing a bit. :)

It may not seem needed by many Staffers and Phases as well, though, because the division between Guides and Moderators here is non-existent wrt who moves what, who changes prefixes in device areas, etc; we're one team and we all do that stuff, green or red.

Mods do sometimes have a sort of advisory role to Guides on "iffy" stuff of a maintenance nature, because the Moderators are largely more experienced here, etc, but when something is encountered out there to be moved or merged etc it's done whether it's encountered by a Guide or Mod.

I see the reporting for Guides thing as a possible help, and pretty cool actually, but maybe barely needed. Maybe that idea will fly with Phases. :)

When I was a guide, I frequented guides central. Other than that what saw needed to be moved, I moved. I also made decisions on thread merges and if an OP specifically asked for their thread to be locked, I may have done that.

Fact was at that time, the HTC desire forum was manic and I didn't have time to look at other forums. It got too much in the end as it was pretty much just me in there at the time.

I can't really say that reports to guide central for moves would have benefited me. But if you think its a good idea, maybe phases could be informed?

Since its much quicker to report than to pm someone who may not even be online, as a mechanism it definitely works better for me. But I would prefer to know that;

1- it goes to the guides, of which there are more of..,

2- that mods dealing with spam, security issues (phishing etc) and distasteful or illegal content are not pulled.away from that work.
