Help Moderate/heavy User

Trying to distinguish between moderate and heavy to see if my battery is good or not. Been using for 5 full days. Have seen some crazy battery life posts of 17 hrs moderate and some 3 hr lite...... since display seems to be the biggest hog what are some true numbers out since display has to be on in order to use phone it should tell a big tale in heavy vs moderate

I've gone from 90 percent to 30 percent with 1 hr 50 min screen time is that good or bad?? Little you tube, browsing, etc. Too me seems like light use when I'm seeing some posts with 17 hrs moderate use....... any help would be great on this. Do I have a bad battery??

PS 3g that whole time period

I was wondering the same thing. I also have 3g on all the time and with moderate use, I can only get like 6 hours and I'm down to about 40% of battery left. I'm not sure but I'm thinking I might have a bad battery and I wanna figure this out before my 14 days is up.

What do you consider moderate use?

Texting, checking facebook, checking emails and using Tapatalk is what I consider moderate use. Maybe browsing the internet for a few minutes here and there. Nothing too crazy like streaming HD YouTube videos or playing Pandora for like an hour or two. I haven't streamed anything all day and my battery was down to 40% after about 6 hours. Like I said, all I did was text, check email, Facebook and Tapatalk and all were done on 3g. Nothing too crazy at all.

I might be in a bad signal area and if I am, that could beat up your battery pretty bad. What's your signal strength where you're getting bad battery life?

If your handset is bouncing back and forth between 3G and 4G you'll drain the battery like mad. One way to verify whether or not this is happening is to go into Call Settings and set the phone to CDMA only. At that point the phone is no longer talking to the 4G network. If your battery life jumps higher in the next day or two you'll know that was the cause.

Otherwise monitor battery statistics either with the applet in Settings or through a third party app from the Android Market. Unless the handset or battery is simply faulty something is draining your battery... the challenge is to find it before your 14 days are up. :)

Full bars. I guess what I'm saying is what is the longest the display time is been on for, for the heavy users on a single charge Im doing about the same thing with same battery drain. Had better battery life on Droid 2

My apologies in advance for sounding like a cynic but full bars really doesn't mean much. The graph in the top bar is simply based on a mathematical calculation of average signal strength. If Motorola's programmers made any mistakes when coding it, it's possible that it could be inaccurate. In my opinion its better to monitor real time signal strength but that requires a third party app and a lot of spare time...

You can also go into menu>settings>about phone>status and then look for signal strength. Let us know what the number to the left of "dBm" is.

One person's moderate is another's heavy & vice versa'. No standards, no way to compare battery life and such posts are easily the most gray of posts you can get.

Case in point, heavy use for me is lots of browsing, some tunes, N64Oid, FPse, Flash vids, some Youtube, texting and calls. If I were to get five hours I would be amazed and that is with the Droid 3 with extended battery.

I understand that 4G, dual core and bigger display equals more drain. Factor in people that use live wallpapers, constantly push social data, gps, widgets, bluetooth, 3G/4G, and everything else in between- WHO IS KIDDING WHO on trying to correlate different users and their battery life?

For "me" light use = about 15 hours
For "me" moderate use = about 11 hours
For "me" heavy use = about 4.5 hours

Then all use in between. For what is in the Razr, it is what I expected.
