More google calendar problems

Hi,
I'm using Google Calendar on a Samsung Galaxy Ace with Android version 2.3.5.
I've been puzzled by these two anomalies:
1 - if I set a test event to occur perhaps 3 minutes ahead of the current time (as displayed on the phone) the event won't wait to alarm at the correct time, but will usually alarm a couple of minutes early.
2 - if I delete an event so that it won't alarm, even if the deletion is 30 minutes ahead of time, it will still set off the notification sound. However, the status bar shows nothing when it's pulled down to view the notification.

I should note that I could do both of these things with my previous phones (all Nokias) and the calendar would work as expected.

(I should add that I have background data turned off, and am trying to use this as a local calendar, not synched to the "cloud" so to speak. Perhaps I'm not using it correctly ?)

Has anyone else seen this odd behaviour?

Thanks in advance for your advice,
Roger.

Hello again,
I discovered what I was doing wrong to cause the first "problem"; coming from a lowly Nokia I didn't realise what the reminder was doing: at the default of 10 minutes, it was setting off an alarm which was _before_ the actual time I thought I'd set. User error... darn... :o

But I still have the problem of deleted events setting off an alarm; one would have thought that when the event is deleted, the reminder would be deleted too, but apparently not.

Until I figure this out (or some kind user points it out to me :) ) I shall be experimenting with another calendar (eg: Jorte).

Bye for now...
Roger.

Better conclude this... :)
The answer turned out to be that it's a characteristic of the stock Android calendar.
For those interested,I'm now using Canengoo, and it can be set up so it doesn't have that problem.
(No doubt there are other fine calendars out there, too, and no, I'm not the developer's next door neighbour. :) )
Kind regards,
Roger.
